Most SAS programmers and their organizations know that the yearly licensing fee is very expensive. At this WASABI meeting, Mark Dorsey demonstrated alternate software that can replace Base SAS and execute most SAS programs with few (if any) changes. The licensing fee for this software is significantly lower than for competing software. Mark did the demo of this software on multiple platforms (Linux, Windows, and Apple Leopard). In addition, he detailed other features and considerations when using this software. Also discussed licensing costs and options using this "Software as a Service". This software is an excellent ETL tool and has numerous features for data exploration, data analysis, reporting and other data management uses. It was an interactive demo and discussion.
